Hi:
I would appreciate some input from those here, who seem to have excellent
knowledge of drugs and physiology as well as practical experience. I would
like to know which *non-controlled* substances are known to increase either
the quantity or effects of growth hormone and/or testosterone.
I seem to recall reading that the antihistamine cyproheptadine and the blood
pressure drug clonidine increase GH systhesis. Anyone know if this is true,
or know any other non-controlled compounds that do?
I have also heard that DHEA increases testosterone synthesis, but I have my
suspicions that this is poppycock. I don’t know of anything that increases
testosterone or other androgenic hormones. Anyone know of any?
Lastly, does it matter physiologically whether testosterone is bound or
free? I seem to remember that like 90% of your testosterone is BOUND, and
that this bound teststerone is not available to exert its effect. Know
anything that decreases the bound fraction of testosterone?
Reason I ask is twofold: first, curiosity. Second, I’m now 41 years old
and not the stud I used to be. I’m getting ready to start weightlifting
again after about a 10 year absence and would like to MAYBE pop a few pills
to help my progress – but NOT anything controlled. I’m sure my doc would
have no problem writing me an Rx for cyproheptadine (I have hay fever and a
sensitive snoot).
Thanks so much for any input.
Sincerely:
Weightlifter
