A friend is taking Dilantyn and I’m worried about the side effects of it….
I’d like to be able to tell him why he should stop it, so any help would be
appreciated…
Thanx in advance

If it’s been prescribed for him for a seizure disorder, you should most
definitely not try to tell him to stop it! If he’s stumbled upon one of
those nonsense "smart drugs" books which tries to make a case for Dilantin
increasing intelligence, and then started self-medicating, that’s a different
story. The drug has side effects which may be acceptible if the alternative
is recurrent seizures, but there’s no good evidence that it makes healthy
people think more clearly; if anything, it works the other way.
