Imitrex & Migraine

Seeking Adverse Reaction Reports on Imitrex–esp. cardiovascular,
i.e. angina, arrhythmias, heart attack, stroke, etc. Anyone know of
any deaths? How about anaphylaxis???

Have filed FOI requests with the FDA but that bureacracy is slower
than a sleepy snail.

Responses welcome directly to E-Mail address:

Thanks

I have a colleague visiting from Bogota, Colombia.
His specialty is the management of headaches.
He tells me about two   patients:

1:  No previous history of HTN, normal BP in a nurse.
After imitrex, 10 minutes later, pt developed hypertensive crisis
         with hypertesnive encephalopathy.
The sequelae was the development of chronic hypertension.

2:  A patient with H/O Asthma.  In complete remission.
10 minutes after imitrex develeped severe asthmatic crisis.

We mention these as some of the most severe reactions, however, there are
     a number of milder reactions.
In Colombia, he also tells me that there are several other types of
    summatripan available other than imitrex.
Perplexing isn’t it?  We are considering writing a paper.
If you wish to speak with him before he returns, contact me by e-mail.
