Oxandrolone used to be marketed in the US by Searle under
the tradename Anavar, but I note that it either isn’t
presently on the market or it’s not being actively
marketed (by not being listed in the PDR–certainly
not the ultimate criterion, admittedly.) It wouldn’t
surprise me if it was dropped once the indications
for the use of anabolic steroids were adjusted
(read: all but eliminated) by the FDA.
Can a RPh who thinks s/he might know send me info on its
status? I’m digging up info on its availability for
the treatment of AIDS-related cachexia. I know there
are orphan-drug investigations in progress for this
indication.
