Hello. I’ve had a (suspected) skin fungal infection problem in the groin area
for some time. I think this is most probably a skin fungal infection, but I’m
not completely sure. However, anti-fungal ointments do seem to work, so that
seems to be some kind of evidence. Also, my doctor says that given the area
(groin) and the symptoms (itching and redness) it is probably a fungal problem.
In any case, it is extremely persistent. I’ve been putting ointment on it for a
long time now. The brand name of the ointment is STATUM PLUS and the composition
is CLOTRIMAZOLE, BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE, and NEOMYCIN SULPHATE CREAM.
It must be nearly a year, and frankly I’m getting a bit fed up.
It keeps going away and then coming back.
I live in Bombay, where the climate is rather hot and humid, and this may be
aggravating the problem. My doctor says that there is nothing to be done.
However, does anybody have any suggestions? I would be willing to try fairly
drastic treatments if necesssary. I will be moving to a colder climate soon
(Chicago) so that might help, but I would like to try and do something now.
I may consult a skin specialist later, but I thought I would first see what
people thought.
Please e-mail me at fah…@tifrvax.tifr.res.in if you think that you can help.
I don’t read this news-group regularly.
Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Faheem Mitha.
