Sources of Activated Charcoal

I am interested in finding out about activated charcoal (ac), which
is used for GI distress, flatulence, and poisoning treatment.  Can
anyone give me an idea as to where to purchase ac.  Also, is ac a USP
item with defined standards?  I would greatly appreciate anyone who
can help me in this matter.  Thanks

    Activated charcoal is available or can be ordered from any
    drugstore.  If used in a poisoning, it should be used under
    the direction of a poison control center.  You can get the
    number of your servicing poison control center by dialing
    information.  They can be very helpful.
